	Boulle Clock, Paris 30 x 15 x 10cm A French 'Boulle' mantel clock of 8 day duration , striking hourly and half hourly on a coiled gong. The vitreous enamelled dial showing Roman numerals, polished blued steel hands and a cast brass decorative bezel surround. The case is typical of Boulle work, after Andre-Charles Boulle and has a good level of detail. Standing on 'C' scroll bracket feet and a fine cast gilded finial to the top . 	F.L.Hausburg Carriage Clock 16.5 x 10 x 8cm An early carriage clock by F.L.Hausburg of Paris who was working in the mid 19th Century. This example with the original, early lever platform and striking on a bell. The back plate with the name engraved in script along the base . The large top bevelled glass below the very ornate handle shows the escapement . A fine 8 day movement which is now fully serviced and overhauled. The case is a 'one piece' design with superb hand engraving and gilding of good colour, all bevelled white glass polished inside and out . 	Miniature timepiece - 1880. 97mm x 48mm x 42mm An extremely well presented miniature carriage timepiece. The clock retains the original outer leather case and original key, it is also unusual to see the handle attached to the leather case. The engine turned, silvered masked enamel dial showing Roman numerals, outer Arabic minutes with blued steel hands. Fully serviced-overhauled movement with original escapement. 	Engraved Carriage Clock 16.5 x 7.5 x 6.5cm This is a very attractive carriage clock with the unusual addition of unique cobalt blue minute track and minutes around the Black Roman numerals. It also has the addition of the Henri Jacot inner ring. The clock is not stamped for Henri Jacot but after years of working on H.J. clocks, we can say this most likely came out of his workshops and was retailed by another. The clock is fully engraved and again, quite a unique style of hand engraving, expertly executed. The case and dial mask are also gilded and the gilding is a very attractive rich colour. 	Large Quarter striking Carriage Clock 20 x 12 x 10cm An extremely substantial, high quality, quarter striking carriage clock in the British style with an engraved dial mask and bevelled sight. Thick bevelled glass to all sides except the front which has a thin flat panel. The clock strikes the quarters on two gongs and sounds very clear through the shuttered back plate. 	Henri Jacot Petite Sonnerie 180mm x 90mm x 90mm Here we have a fine quarter chiming or 'petite sonnerie' carriage clock by Henri Jacot . The fine gilded gorge case is substantial. The dial is perfect and free of any chips or hairlines. The movement strikes the hours and quarters with the addition of push repeat and alarm. The clock has the Jacot stamp on the back plate and the Jacot signatures on the reverse of the dial. The clock, the outer case and key are all numbered 4613. 	Ormolu Clock ~ Paris 31 x 13 x 14cm An impressive French mantel clock of 8 day duration, striking hourly and half hourly on a soft gong. We have not seen a clock quite like it before and it is a pleasure to look at. The case has been thoughtfully made with very fine detail throughout, even the rear of the clock is highly decorated enabling you to stand this clock in almost any position. 	Giant Carriage Clock - Brighton 230mm x 130mm x 90mm An extremely substantial carriage clock with soft gong strike on the hour and half hour which runs for a week per wind. Circa 1900. This carriage clock has been fully restored. The case has been fully dismantled, cleaned and lacquered. The movement has benefited from a complete overhaul which included the escapement. The clock was retailed by Lawson and Son of Brighton. Lawson and Son are listed in the Watch and Clockmakers of the World Vol 2 as working from 1870. This clock with it's angular, 'deco' style looks very turn of the century. It is worth noting that this size of carriage clock is extremely rare now and this one is very reasonably priced! 	Paul Garnier , Series 1 . 150mm x 90mm x 70mm In all the 38 years of buying , restoring and selling antique clocks we have not had a series 1, Jean Paul Garnier carriage clock with 'Chaffcutter' escapement. This clock is a survivor! There is much written about Monsieur Garnier in the book about Carriage clocks written by C.Allix. This fine clock is currently in careful restoration. The back plate is stamped with Paul Garnier, Hor Du Roi, Paris. It is bell striking, has an early 'one piece' case with 'water silk dial'. 	Leroy & Fils , London . 16.5cm x 8.5cm x 7.5cm A fine carriage clock in a gilt 'Gorge' design case. The clock is in very original condition with a white enamel dial showing Roman numerals with the retailers name and address Leroy & Fils in both Paris and London (slightly rubbed). A large top glass to view the original Bi-metallic balance and silvered platform escapement. The unusual rear winding is the first we have seen and after hours of research online and offline, appears to be quite rare. It is novel idea to keep the back sealed and in turn keep the dust out. 	Stevenard Horologer Boulogne Stevenard of Boulogne was a very well known maker of automata , he is better known for his inventive mechanical Dolls and life like figures rather than clocks , however this Carriage clock is quite unusual and rare . The clock retains the original Lever escapement , and is countwheel striking on a bell , the case retains the solid , engraved back door and the dial is surprisingly good for a clock of this early period of Carriage clock developement . The case is 'multi - piece' rather than 'one piece' like so many of the early clocks . The engraving is still quite crisp and has the original gilding. 	William Cozens & Son 42cm x 41cm x 16cm A large 14 inch early fusee dial clock . This unusual clock has the very thick Iron dial with the enamel 'cream' background and has large lugs and pins in 3 positions to fix to the case , this is a very rare feature . The well proportioned mahogany case with narrow bezel , two side doors and one convex lower door with lock and key . 	Zenith , Heals . 36 x 34 x 5cm A twist on the traditional dial clock . This was made by Zenith and features a superb quality swiss , 18 day movement with a centre winding position and very domed Walnut wooden dial . 	Le Roy No3984 ~ Quarter striking . 17cm x 9cm x 8cm An extremely rare and early 'experimental' quarter striking carriage clock with alarm by Le Roy et Fils with the outer protective leather case . 	J.Sewell & Co 165mm x 96mm x 85mm A fine carriage clock by J.Sewell & Co , based in Buntingford, Hertfordshire , circa 1851-59 with workshops in Paris for the French clocks they sold. This clock has a decorative one piece case with relief of flowers and leaves all covered with Gilt. The clock strikes the hours and half hours on a bell. 	Robert Wood, London. 19" x 12.5" x 7.5" A good double fusee bracket clock of good size with a convex dial and strike - silent above the dial. Fish scale frets to both sides with a 'pull repeat' cord. The mahogany case has good colour and patina and features 3 'pads' to the top, known as a 'triple pad top' standing on brass ball feet with the classic handle to the top. 	R.Job , Camden Town , London . 35 x 22 x 23cm This good example of a 'fusee' timepiece was made by R.Job of Camden Town , London . He is a recorded maker and worked between 1828-44 . This clock ( timepiece as they are known if they do not strike) with its fine brass inlays is typical of the the late Regency - William IIII period . The 8 day movement is stamped with LeRoy and numbered 7679 . Polished blue steel Breguet hands to the dial . Charles Le Roy was the Master Clockmaker to Napolean & along with his son Charles-Louis were clockmaker’s to the Princess Pauline and the Duke de Bourbon. Examples of their work are in all the major collections as well in the Ministere de la Guerre, Paris. The case is in perfect condition and has a solid silver hinge , handle , bezel and bun feet with hallmarks for 1907 . 	Bourdin ,Duplex with rare strike It's not often we are surprised by a clock but this Bourdin Carriage clock has done just that. The reason for this is the strike. The strike for the hour is on Bell and the strike for the half hour on a Gong, ingenious ! thus solving the problem of the 12.30 , 1 & 1.30 strike if you are not looking at the clock just listening. To achieve this the clockmaker (Boudin - Clockmaker to the King of France ) has had to cleverly invent a 'pump' hammer to switch between them. As if that wasn't enough the clock has the original Duplex escapement which is exceptional. 	Capucine by Legrand - alarm . 29cm x 9cm x 12cm A good size , bell striking Capucine, carriage clock with alarm and pull repeat. This fine clock is in very original condition and has developed a beautiful bronze 'patina'. Bell striking on the hour and two minutes after the hour, sometimes called vineyard striking, with one blow on the bell for the half hour. The convex enamelled dial showing black Arabic numerals with minutes to the outer edge and quarter markers, decorated with finely chased, pierced and gilded hands, signed to the dial Buzot a Paris who is recorded in G.H.Baillie's - Watch and Clockmakers of the World. This Seikosha made carriage clock has the addition of day and date on the full enamel dial , with arabic numerals for the main dial . It has an 8 day duration time-piece movement . Seikosha was established in 1892 and this clock would most probably date to around 1900-1910 . The case is gilded and day , date and wind are operated at the rear . 	Westminster Chime 16" x 11" x 8" A good size Rosewood mantel clock . This lovely little mantel clock has a Westminster chime and this is quite unusual for a clock of this size . The tone is very deep and I would recommend coming to see and hear this fine clock . It was made circa 1880-90 by Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Schwaerzenbach in Germany and if you know your 'W&H' clocks , you'll know that these very rarely have a full Westminster chime and are more common in Oak . H.83" W.20" D.9.5" After hours of research we have discovered that Mr Andrew Symington was not just well known for good quality clocks , but also a rather inventive chap like his father - William . We have attached and can supply various information about his inventions and Patents . This clock, a 'belly door' flame mahogany , longcase clock with half columns to the trunk and a 'Swan neck' hood has full columns either side of the arched and glazed door . A very good example of Scottish clock making in the early Victorian period . The well painted dial is in near perfect condition and has a lady to the arch possibly Charlotte Dundas , the Lord Dundas's daughter (and name given to his fathers invention of the first steam boat). This exceptional longcase has the addition of rosewood panels and brass inlays. John Hardy of Aberdeen was recorded working at 17 Huxter Row in 1837. This is printed in John Smith's book of 'Old Scottish Clockmakers' 1453-1850. The dial is the original engraved and silvered with seconds, calendar and fine blued steel hands. They were retailers and makers of fine small clocks , watches and Jewelry and were later bought out by Asprey who still own the name Birch and Gaydon . This good example in highly figured mahogany , features a clean and simple , silvered dial with the makers name engraved in the arch . Polished blued steel hands piont to the engraved Roman numerals . The well proportioned case with long trunk door held with a lock and key . The Weston family are well documented . They had a shop at Alywards Corner ( the Junction of Market Street and School Hill in 1790 and this clock was most likely sold from that premises. 	Jump of London This fine and quite rare Bracket clock of small proportions is signed by Jump of London . The Jump family were very well respected clockmakers in London . Richard Thomas Jump was freed of his apprentice to Benjamin Vulliamy clockmaker to King George III in 1825 and this clock would have been made by his sons Joseph and Alfred who were in business at 11 Old Bond Street , London ( now occupied by The Ritz Jewellers ) around 1857. This fine 'Triple Pad' top is in superbly original presented with a full brass dial with strike silent to the arch a silvered chapter ring and name plate , blued steel hands , gilded cherub head spandrels and carry handle to finish . The case is ebonised Pear wood and the substantial twin fusee movement has half dead beat escapement resulting in a surprisingly quiet tick . The case is in wonderful condition and has highly figured Mahogany veneers with depth of colour and good patination . 	Jules a Paris . An early Carriage clock by Jules of Paris who was working circa 1840 . This is a superb example with the original 'Jules' type platform with Helical Hairspring and , jewelled lever escapement . The clock is number stamped - 523 under the escapement and is also stamped with ' Jules' name at the bottom of the backplate. The large top bevelled glass below the very ornate handle shows the escapement and has the Push repeat facility (through glass, which is also an early feature ). A fine 8 day movement which has not yet been fully serviced as this has just arrived . 	Leroi a Paris , Calderwood . This early carriage clock is possibly the earliest we have handled . We have established that Leroi a Paris became the Royal clockmakers in 1825 and this must pre-date as it would have been stamped Leroi a Paris Horologer du Roi after that date .There are also other features that would make this exceptionally early for a carriage clock , the case is constructed in a very unusual way , a' multi-piece' case with shuttered rear door and being quite large overall . The case retains the original Gilt finish which we have cleaned but not regilded or refreshed . The original and unusual jewelled lever , platform escapement is superb and has a good strong action . The clock is 'countwheel' striking on a bell and can be left silent (if you do not wind the strike side) . The original silvered dial is signed Calderwood and Son , London , who would have retailed the clock . The thick bevelled glass has a few little edge chips but it would be a shame to change as it is original . 	J.F. Anderson of Newburgh. A good quality 19th century longcase clock with a bell stike on the hour by J.F. Anderson of Newburgh. The case is old mellow mahogany with a classic 'belly door', the hood has a typical 'swan neck' pediment and a glazed hood door, covering the painted dial, which is oil on silver leaf. 	Klaftenberger , London A fine Carriage clock retailed by Klafternberger of Regent Street, London.Charles Klaftenberger was in business from 1863 to 1881, he sold the finest carriage clocks of the period , he used mainly Drocourt and Jacot as his suppliers and this example has the oval Drocourt stamp to the back plate and between the plates. This is a superb example with the original lever, silvered platform and the addition of a gilt dial bezel . The clock is number stamped - 13288 with Klafternberger engraved at the bottom of the backplate. The hood , with turned mahogany columns and a swan neck pediment , the Panelled base has single plinth with small bracket feet . The Painted dial is in superb condition and has a painting in the arch of a young Queen Victoria with a cartouche of Lord Grey and holding a scrolled document with the heading ' Reform ' . This painted arch is (we think) dating the clock to circa 1845 , Lord Grey , Born 1764 , British prime minister 1830 -1834 died in 1845 . The Reform Act of 1832 ( The representation of the people ) and the abolishment of Slavery throughout the British Empire are what he and his party are remembered for . Jedburgh was not too far from Howick and the Church where Lord Grey was buried. Lord Grey was also the second Earl Grey for all the Tea lovers reading ! . This clock although not signed can be attributed to 'Jules' a fine maker of earlier carriage clocks and is numbered 811 , it has the large top glass to view the important original chronometer balance escapement with helical spring . the original pair of blued steel hands , striking on the hour on a bell and once on the half hour , viewing recommended .
	Henri Jacot , Paris 1885 A fine Carriage clock by perhaps the finest of all the carriage clock makers Henri Jacot , working in Paris from 1855 to 1900 . This is a very unusual carriage clock in that not only does it have Push repeat for the hour strike and an alarm facility , it also has the rare addition of a Strike Silent lever hidden beneath the base -which we have not seen before on this type of clock . The clock is number stamped - 3664 and also stamped with the Henri Jacot Logo - H.and J with the Parrot (Jacot) motif on the back plate . The alarm function is fully operational and strikes with the smaller hammer on the coiled Gong . The oval bevelled top glass has been engraved with the Latin inscription Stella Maris Spes Mea and has a Shield with a Star and Anchor either side of three Crosses . 	Leroy & Fils , Drocourt , circa 1870 A good early example of a Gorge case Carriage clock , Alarm with an enamel dial by the very well known clockmakers and retailers of exceptional quality , Leroy & fils who were in business at 13-15 Palais Royal in Paris , France . The Carriage Clock is engraved with the retailers name Leroy & Fils ( see close up photos ) and with the Drocourt stamp. Pierre & Alfred Drocourt were France's leading makers from the middle of the 19th century through to the late Victorian era. They had a factory in Saint-Nicolas-d'Ailermont, an important town for carriage clock manufacturing. The majority of their clocks would go to their Paris premises and be dispersed amongst the world's top retailers of that time. They exhibited at the major exhibitions winning a bronze medal at Paris 1867, the Silver at Paris 1878 and the gold at Paris in 1889. 	J.W.Benson , Rhodium . A large white / Rhodium - gorge case , Carraige clock in very original condition with an oval bevelled top glass to view the original Bi-metallic , split , jewelled lever escapement . Gong striking on the Hour and once on the half hour . The movement is completely original and has been fully serviced , polished and set up . This Carriage clock was retailed by J.W.Benson of 25 Old Bond Street , London Circa 1895 , and has the Drocourt logo stamped in an oval to the rear plate .J.W.Benson had numerous clocks made for them by Alfred and Pierre Drocourt . This clock also retains the name to the dial which is often worn away . When we purchased this clock we noticed that the white metal had been polished off , and after taking to an expert Gilder we established it was most probably Nickel plated . Nickel and Rhodium have very similar white colour , so it was decided to opt for the Rhodium-a noble metal which has greater value at around $80,000 a kilogram ! and is also one of the most precious metals . 	Frodsham of London, Double Fusee Bracket Clock A superb Bracket clock with Strike-Silent feature to the side of the Convex enamelled dial showing Roman numerals and the Makers name Frodsham,Gracechurch Street, London.Very decorative carving to the front with Architectual Pediment and standing on egyptian inspired bracket feet. The Double fusee movement which is also engraved with the makers name is typical, high quality clock making you would expect from such a well known maker in London of this period, circa 1850-60. Summerhays of Ilminster who is listed in the book 'Watch and Clockmakers of the World' by B.Loomes as working in Milverton which is 20miles from Ilmister, (It's quite possible he moved his business in later years to Milverton). The hood has full turned mahogany columns a crossbanded Trunk door and the base has a panel and single plinth . 	Large Gorge , Paris A fine , large gorge case Carraige clock in very original condition , in its original leather case which has been numbered 141 (to match the clock number 141) with bevelled glass and a secret compartment in the base to store the Key . The clock has a large bevelled top glass to view the Bi-metallic , lever platform escapement . The fully serviced 8 day movement is Bell striking on the Hour and once on the half hours the movement is completely original and working perfectly , the white glass all of which have been bevelled are in perfect condition . 	Benjamin Hills of Sudbury , 1840 An attractive small oak longcase clock by Benjamin Hills of Sudbury , who is listed in the book 'Watch and Clockmakers of the World' by B.Loomes as working from 1839 - 1858 . The hood has full columns with Brass capitals a Hood Lock , with quarter sawn Oak Trunk door , the base has the classic single apron plinth . The dial is a little bit different with a convexed center and well painted Arch with a man on Horseback and his hound. Roman numerals with Seconds and Name to the middle . 	Brown of Thornbury circa 1800 Thornbury is not too far from the city of Bristol (12 miles North) and this is a very good example of not only Bristol Clockmaking but also a good example of the earlier 'Painted' or Japanned dial . The case is in Solid and veneered Mahogany , it has a long good shape Trunk door with a canted and fluted sides to the trunk , the classic 'Double Broken arch' Hood with Corinthian Capitols on fluted columns , a typical Bristol style Hood door , and the base is attractively veneered and inlaid with stringing . The Trunk door is the entire length with a panelled arch feature , the base which is in good original condition - unusual for a clock of this age , has a slightly convexed front . The superb dial was almost certainly made by the clockmaker it has the quarter Hour divisions with fluer-de-lys on the half hour markers , ringed winding holes and a small square date aperture . The columns have bronze octagonal capitals - above and below .
