A fine flame mahogany Scottish longcase clock of 8 day duration, the case is one of the best we have seen, being not only the best figuring but also the panelling and carved decorations add to this superb case, the Hood is in the classic 'Broken arch' shape with carved Thistles just below the dial, the 12" painted dial features a calendar and seconds dial within the Roman numeral chapter ring, the movement is also a little better than average with a deadbeat escapement with maintaining power on the 'going' train.Thomas Low of 204 Overgate Street,Dundee is listed in 'Old Scottish Clockmakers 1453-1850' by John Smith as working in 1828.

A fine Regency Bracket clock of small proportions in an Ebony and ebonised case with fine brass inlays a Pineapple finial ( fahionable in the period), Brass Ball feet and a cast Brass bezel with convex bevelled glass and to the sides -arched fish scale sound frets backed with silk .The Convex 5 inch enamelled dial showing Roman numerals and the Makers name Jones of London with fine blued Steel hands . The double fusee movement (which is engraved with the makers name under the bell) is superbly laid out and a pleasure to see , 5 Pillars and the addition of a star wheel for the strike a feature of pull repeating clocks . Strike-silent option at the 12 o'clock position . This clock does have to be seen to fully appreciate the small proportions .

The Carriage Clock is stamped by E & E Emanuel , The Hard Portsea (part of Portsmouth) who were fine and well known retailers of good quality Carriage clocks as well as Swords , telescopes and many maritime instruments , they were working at this address from 1859-67. and also opened a store at 101 The High Street , Portsmouth This Clock with its Original True Split Bi-Metalic Balance is in exceptional condition and Strikes the Hours and Half Hours on a Bell . The case has a Drocourt style Handle and Large Bevelled Top Glass to see the escapement and is numbered 4270.

Thornbury is not too far from the city of Bristol (12 miles North) and this is a very good example of not only Bristol Clockmaking but also a good example of the earlier 'Painted' or Japanned dial . The case is in Solid and veneered Mahogany , it has a long good shape Trunk door with a canted and fluted sides to the trunk , the classic 'Double Broken arch' Hood with Corinthian Capitols on fluted columns , a typical Bristol style Hood door , and the base is attractively veneered and inlaid with stringing . The clock runs for 7days and strikes the Hours on a Bell , J . Brown of Thornbury is recorded working from 1792 in Thornbury after he moved out from Bristol . We would date this to around 1800 but it could be as early as 1795 .

The 7 day movement is bell striking on the Hour and once on the half hours the movement is completely original and working perfectly , the case and Glass all of which have been bevelled and are in perfect condition . This carriage clock although unsigned can certainly be attributed to the work of Drocourt who made 1860-89 , the clock is numbered 4154 and as Drocourt numbering is known to start at 1248 and run until 35,233 this clock could be roughly dated to 1870. click to see close up photos

I would highly recommend viewing this clock as it is truly stunning . the 7 day movement is bell striking the Platform escapement is the original and is working perfectly , the case has been profesionally polished and regilded (18carat! ) signed on the dial CORRALL of Mansfield , George CORRALL was a clock maker and retailer working in Mansfield from 1849-76 , this clock would have been made for him by one of the better Carriage clock makers of Paris circa 1870 .

An early Oak cased , 11" full Brass dial , Longcase clock . The Trunk door is the entire length with a panelled arch feature , the base which is in good original condition - unusual for a clock of this age , has a slightly convexed front . The superb dial was almost certainly made by the clockmaker it has the quarter Hour divisions with fluer-de-lys on the half hour markers , ringed winding holes and a small square date aperture . The columns have bronze octagonal capitals - above and below . The movement which has an inside Strike countwheel has two finely ringed pillars and early wheel work is driven by two ringed topped cast lead weights , This clock is unsigned and truly unique .

This example has four dummy drawer fronts to the left side and four full sized mahogany lined to the right side, scroll supports in carved walnut, an inlaid piano top and pannelled front, Brass casters are hidden under walnut Pad feet. The rising stationary compartment is released with a hidden button inside the righthand small drawer above the leather writing slope and once raised folds back 180* to reveal a decorative fret. circa 1860
