A very fine marquetry inlaid rosewood mantel clock of superb proportions, very good colour and patina with small lenticel below the decorative handle to view the original and highly unusual 'single Chaff cutter' escapement , The 3"dial is engine turned with engraved Roman numerals and has a correct number 4 not the usual four single lines but the IV , boxwood stringing to both sides of the case around the edge. A fine French 8 day movement striking on a Bell , polished blue steel Breguet Hands the back of the dial has a small stamp Bachot . Standing 24cms small ! (with Handle raised) Circa 1840-50
