A fine and large Oval Carraige clock in typical Drocourt style .The engraved and gilded dial mask with two dial apertures showing time and alarm dials . Original fine blued steel Breguet hands , The 7 day movement is Gong striking on the hour with the option to 'push' repeat the last hour , the jewelled lever , Platform escapement is the original and is in typical Drocourt style . The gilded case has been carefully cleaned and laquered . ( please click the image to see the macro photos )An extremely fine Carriage clock made in Paris circa 1870 . Pierre & Alfred Drocourt were France's leading makers from the middle of the 19th century through to the late Victorian era. They had a factory in Saint-Nicolas-d'Ailermont, an important town for carriage clock manufacturing. The majority of their clocks would go to their Paris premises and be dispersed amongst the world's top retailers of that time. They exhibited at the major exhibitions winning a bronze medal at Paris 1867, the Silver at Paris 1878 and the gold at Paris in 1889. The son, Alfred, succeeded his father Pierre sometime in the 1870's.
