Things To Do after your visit.

The Beecroft Gallery is an art gallery which is just a five minute drive from our shop. It's located in Southend in the former Central Library along Victoria Avenue. There is a permanent collection of over 2000 pieces of work, all ranging from the 17th century to contempary works. Within the collection their is pieces by artists such as molenaer, and Berchem plus the 19th century artists, Rossetti and Constable. The Beecroft Gallery has many different exhibitions within including highlights from the Constable "On the Stour" and Henry Brights "Hadleigh Castle".


Southend Central museum is located next to the Beecroft Gallery. It would be easy to visit both of these places of interest after a visit to our shop. The museum is home to many collections of Natural, social and archaeology history. It also shows the growth and change of southend as a major seaside destination.
Southend Planetarium holds a wide selection of talks and displays of astronomy and the night sky. All the talks and presentations are live giving the oppotunity for questions and to get involved. The opening hours are 10am-5pm tuesday to saturday.

Priory Park is located in the middle of Victoria Avenue just a 5 minute drive from our shop. It's a wonderful place for a picnic or a nice walk, with 45 acres and a wide range of activities including a playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, formal gardens and areas of recreation. There is something for everyone to choose from. At the centre of the park there is the Priory Museum which was originally part of the Cluniac Monastery dating back to 1180. Throughout the year there's many different events held within the park and the museum.

The Westcliff Hotel is located along the cliffs over looking the seafront just 2 minutes from the shop. It's in a lovely old Victorian building with free wifi, free parking and a restaurant with estuary views.

The Estuary is a fully licensed restaurant located in the heart of Leigh on sea just a 10 minute walk down the road from our shop. With delicious food and generous portions to satisfy all appetites with locally sourced seafood. There is also wide range of hot and cold meat dishes and cheeses and Vegetarian options. There is also indoor and outdoor seating.

The Clockmakers’ Company was established by Royal Charter granted by King Charles I in 1631. It ranks 61st in the order of precedence of the 108 City of London Livery Companies. It is the oldest surviving horological institution in the world. The Clockmaker's Comapny run a museum situated at Guildhall in the City of London, which is the oldest and also considered by many to be one of the finest collections of clocks, watches and sundials in the world. It is open to the public and entrance is free.

The Science Museum, in South Kensington London has a wide range of interesting and unique clocks; these include Atomic Clocks and Chronophage Clocks. The Science Museum is open almost all year round and entrance is free.

british horological institute

The BHI formed in 1858 to promote horology, today it continues to provide education, standards and support to its 3,000 members around the world involved in making, repairing and servicing clocks and watches.

At their headquarters, the British Horological Institute has facilities to enable members to see examples of most types of clock and watch from around the world, and to research almost any topic in horology. The BHI has its headquarters at Upton Hall in Nottinghamshire and they open to the public on the Sundays that mark the beginning and end of British Summer Time and for their Summer Show on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the second weekend in June.

Cuckooland

The Cuckooland Museum is situated in Tabley, Cheshire and has a magnificent variety of cuckoo clocks regarded as the most important collection in the world. The collection has been brought together by brothers Roman and Maz Piekarski who, as foremost horologists and clock restorers, have sought and renovated the rarest and most notable examples over careers of 40 years. They began restoring Cuckoo clocks to there former glory at the age of 15 they have  a keen eye to find, research and restore  antique cuckoo clocks. Cuckooland offers exciting tours through their museum of clocks that will fascinate you throughout.
