The Clockmakers’ Company was established by Royal Charter granted by King Charles I in 1631. It ranks 61st in the order of precedence of the 108 City of London Livery Companies. It is the oldest surviving horological institution in the world. The Clockmaker's Comapny run a museum situated at Guildhall in the City of London, which is the oldest and also considered by many to be one of the finest collections of clocks, watches and sundials in the world. It is open to the public and entrance is free.

The Science Museum, in South Kensington London has a wide range of interesting and unique clocks; these include Atomic Clocks and Chronophage Clocks. The Science Museum is open almost all year round and entrance is free.

The BHI formed in 1858 to promote horology, today it continues to provide education, standards and support to its 3,000 members around the world involved in making, repairing and servicing clocks and watches.
At their headquarters, the British Horological Institute has facilities to enable members to see examples of most types of clock and watch from around the world, and to research almost any topic in horology. The BHI has its headquarters at Upton Hall in Nottinghamshire and they open to the public on the Sundays that mark the beginning and end of British Summer Time and for their Summer Show on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the second weekend in June.
The Cuckooland Museum is situated in Tabley, Cheshire and has a magnificent variety of cuckoo clocks regarded as the most important collection in the world. The collection has been brought together by brothers Roman and Maz Piekarski who, as foremost horologists and clock restorers, have sought and renovated the rarest and most notable examples over careers of 40 years. They began restoring Cuckoo clocks to there former glory at the age of 15 they have a keen eye to find, research and restore antique cuckoo clocks. Cuckooland offers exciting tours through their museum of clocks that will fascinate you throughout.
