Lenzkirch 'Petite Sonnerie'An Oak mantel clock by the well known Clockmakers 'Lenkirch' of Germany . 8 day duration , striking hourly on a gong , at quarter past striking on two gongs , at half past agian two Gongs-twice , at a quarter too the hour giving three blows to the two gongs ,giving a pleasant 'Ting-Tang' or as the French would say - "Petite Sonnerie" . It is difficult to show the quality of this clock, but Lenzkirch were very well known for high quality Clocks. The full brass dial has polished blued steel Hands and a Cast brass sivered bezel surround , Silvered Chapter ring and polished Spandrels . A perfect two section white enamel dial with Roman numerals and with the center of the dial showing the jewelled 'deadbeat' escapement . Bevelled glass to all sides with the regulator being a Ship's wheel on display instead of a pendulum . These clocks are extremely rare and this is the first we have had in 20 years ! A fine French 8 day movement and polished blue steel Breguet Hands. The movement is stamped by S.Marti et Cie , Bronze medal winner and working from 1863 to 1890 , this fine clock would have been made circa 1880 , standing 33cms Tall .Circa 1880 . The dial is signed by J.Smith of Kendal (although the name is slightly worn) he is recorded working from 1853 to 1879 , this fine clock would have been made circa 1870 standing 11 and half inches Tall .

Charles Le Roy was the Master Clockmaker to Napolean & along with his son Charles-Louis were clockmaker’s to the Princess Pauline and the Duke de Bourbon. Examples of their work are in all the major collections as well in the Ministere de la Guerre, Paris. The Maison de Le Roy was founded in 1785 at Palais Royal & continued until the death of Charles at Versailles in 1865. , Standing 29cms Tall . Circa 1880
