The South Eastern and Chatham Railway ran this line and the clock has the S.E.C.R. stamped to the back plate of the movement. Here we have a rather interesting timepiece. The case is made of Walnut with a highly figured front panel. Addison of Bridgnorth , Convex Dial Wall Clock

39 x 35 x 15cm

This fine and rather elegant wall clock is now looking great again! When this clock arrived it had a very poorly painted face/dial, probably done sometime back in 1960's or 70's when this type of clock had very little value. The dial has now been carefully restored following the 'ghosting' after we removed the modern over paint. Also note the name on the back of the dial which is very common, the freshly painted dial would be given to the local signwriter/dial painter with the name of the clockmaker painted poorly across the back of the dial so there could be no confusion if he or she had more than one on the bench. The movement is a fully restored and beautifully shaped fusee with heavy pendulum bob as can be seen if the pictures . The clock dates to around 1840 and there is a John Addison of Bridgnorth recorded in B.Loomes book- Watch and Clockmakers of the World Vol 2 . Sold with a full 24 month Guarantee.

Rare - 8 Inch Convex Dial Clock

31 x 25 x 15cm

Here we have an exceptionally pretty wall clock of small proportions in mahogany with a superb quality round shape fusee movement which was quite unusual for the period. The dial is signed W.Young of Pentonville . In both editions of Watch and Clockmakers of the World , William Young is listed as working from and around 1820. We would date this clock closer to 1830, but certainly around that late Regency period. It has attractive and simple brass inlays to the small 'drop ' or 'trunk', a locking lower door , convex glass and will run for a week on a single wind . Interestingly the movement is stamped to front plate by Hampson & Sons , London who would have supplied the high quality parts to make the clock - they are also listed as Clock & Hand Makers circa 1828. Quite a rare clock. Sold with a full 24 month guarantee
