James and Abraham Weston of Lewes are recorded as a fine longcase clockmakers . This good example in highly figured mahogany , features a clean and simple , silvered dial with the makers name engraved in the arch . Polished blued steel hands piont to the engraved Roman numerals . The well proportioned case with long trunk door held with a lock and key . The Weston family are well documented . They had a shop at Alywards Corner ( the Junction of Market Street and School Hill in 1790 and this clock was most likely sold from that premises. This clock has benefitted from a full overhaul in our workshop and will be delivered (locally) and set up - free of charge .
