Rocking Ship Longcase of Rochford

A solid oak Longcase clock of good colour with full silvered brass dial showing an automated Rocking ship to arch ,chapter ring , calendar and seconds . The arched top hood with columns and brass capitals and locking door . The trunk with long door and simple plinth to the base .Francis Furner was a local clockmaker (to our shop) and was working in the market town of Rochford , Essex . He is listed in Clock and Watchmakers of Essex as being active in 1794 and this would be close to the date this clock was made . Rocking Ship Longcase clocks are quite popular and fairly rare .
