Mahogany Longcase , James Gray of Edinburgh

A superb Mahogany Longcase with fully silvered brass dial showing the makers name to the arch- James Gray of Edinburgh who is a well known Scottish Clockmaker working from 1765-1806 and has two pages written about him in the book - Old Scottish Clockmakers 1453-1850 by John Smith , his son , also of the same name was appointed watch and clockmaker and repairer to His Majesty the king after his father . A stunning clock with bell strike on the hour , quarter columns to the trunk and Corinthian Capitals to the hood . circa 1795-1800
