A superb French four glass regulator clock by Samuel Marti of Paris . This fine and substantial clock strikes the hours and the half hours on a bell. A two piece enamel dial showing Roman numerals and with the center of the dial showing the jeweled 'deadbeat' escapement . Bevelled glass all round and a large sealed mercury compensating pendulum. A fine French 8 day movement and polished blued steel 'Breguet' Hands. The movement is stamped and numbered with the S.Marti circular stamp . This example is typical of high quality French clock making of the 1870-80s and has a fine 'satin' gilt case with very thick bevelled glass .
