A good size , well proportioned flame Mahogany , ' strike-silent' longcase by William Mason , London . The classic London case with 'break' arch trunk door.The base with a raised panel and classic London double plinth. The hood has a 'pagoda' topped arch with silk backed fret work with fluted columns and brass reeding . The full brass dial signed with the makers name A large five knopped pillar movement with Brass cased weights and pendulum Bob , Striking the Hours on a Bell or silent at will . William Mason is listed in G.H.Ballie-Watch and clockmakers of the World , working from 1734-1787 .
