A fine longcase clock by Robert Sampson of Westminster who is recorded working from 1779- 93 in G.H.Baillie's - Watch and Clockmakers of the World. It is also noted that he received an award from The Society of Arts for a Chiming Mechanism . This clock shows a full brass and silvered dial with a domed engraved boss to the arch, depicting a face in the sun . A finely engraved dial center with makers name , calendar and seconds, as well as the full silvered chapter ring . A good quality and substantial 8 day duration movement which strikes the hour on a bell . A superb 'Flame' mahogany case with the classic long trunk door with arch to mirror the Hood .
