Longcase Clocks

A fine William and Mary walnut and marquetry longcase clock by Charles Tolley of London , who was born in 1663 and survived the Great fire!. He was free of the Clockmakers Company in 1683 . The case is veneered in walnut with panels of bird and floral marquetry against an ebony ground.  There is an round brass lenticle to the trunk door and the hood ( ex rising) is flanked by Barley twist columns

The eight day duration movement has five pillars and an inside locking plate with outside locking lever .  The 11 inch square dial with a finely matted centre, a silvered chapter ring and seconds dial with cherub and foliage spandrels.  The winding holes are ringed and the Calendar aperture is decorated with scrolls
