Carriage Clocks

Henry Marc a Paris .

Henry Marc of Paris working circa 1840 -80. This clock is unusual in that it has the 'Jules' type platform with Helical Hairspring and jewelled lever escapement . The clock is number stamped - 20044 with the oval Henry Marc stamp to the backplate. This number is one of the earliest we have ever seen and think it's highly likely he started the numbering at 20000 which would make this number 44 . The large top bevelled glass below the very ornate handle shows the escapement and fine 8 day movement  which has been fully serviced and hand polished . The movement has the addition of hidden ratchet wheels (to the front plate ) it is bell striking on the hour and once for the half hour . The case is hand engraved and in very good order with thick Bevelled glass polished inside and out . A fine and unusually early Carriage clock by Henry Marc .
