Travel - Carriage Clock with Case
A very unusual , French travelling 'Carriage Clock' in a polished and laquered brass case, a jewelled cylinder escapement is visable through the top glass and the beautifully engraved , silvered dial with Roman numerals through the convex glass to the front door . Clocks like this are normally time -only , but this has the addition of being a bell strike which together with the original travel case makes this highly unusual . Stamped to the Back plate - Japy Freres circa 1850-60
