A very large, Jean Paul Garnier carriage clock with 'Chaffcutter' escapement. This clock is shown pre-restoration, it was in a rather tired and dusty state when it came in , we have almost completed the full restoration of this clock , so keep There is much written about Paul Garnier in the book about the history and developement of carriage clocks written by C.Allix. The back plate is stamped with Paul Garnier, Paris. It is bell striking, has an early 'one piece' case with a superb 'water silk dial'. Moon hands and thick bevelled white glass with a typical shaped wooden block under the base. Number 469. A fine and extremely rare clock. Circa 1835.
