A fine oak Lancashire Longcase clock of good proportions with full 12 " brass dial showing silvered Chapter ring , Calendar and dial center with gilt spandrels to the dial corners . The hood with columns and a dentil moulding , crossbanding around the door and reverse painted glass known as Verre eglomise above . The trunk in Oak with mahogany crossbanding , quarter columns and panelled base .Thomas Ashton of Macclesfield was working from 1760-95 and is listed in Clock and Watchmakers of the World , book by G.H.Ballie .
