Pensotti of Gravesend 1860
A mahogany wheel Barometer with an 8" silvered barometer dial, encased in a cast bezel with convex glass , the makers name C.Pensotti of Gravesend is below the mirror with the Level aperture - there is recorded in the Barometer Makers book by Edwin Banfield a J.Pensotti of Gravesend circa 1855 , could this be the same person or a relative ?. This Barometer would date to around 1860 and is extremely rare . We have not seen one quite like this with the Mirror and raised dial before and when reseaching this style of Barometer , Edwin Banfield the author of many Books on Barometers and their Makers suggests that they are very rare indeed and thought only to be made by one maker .
