Ortelli and Co , circa 1820
A rope edge , mahogany, wheel Barometer with an 8" silvered barometer dial finely engraved , encased in a cast bezel and covered with a glass, a silvered Thermometer scale with Mercury tube , the makers name Ortelli and Co , Waranted , We have researched Ortelli and Co in the Barometer Makers book by Edwin Banfield and there are other Ortelli's dotted around the country , this one , however has old labels stuck on the back , one from Harwich and another from Manningtree ( see close up photos by clicking on the image ), so , we could assume this was made by Oretelli and Co of of 94 Holborn Hill , London as people tended not to travel to far with Barometers of this type . A 'Broken Pediment' with Polished brass finial to finish .
